Picture from www.hindu.com
I saw this extraordinary picture in the local newspaper, The Hindu. All this for a living? I really have to kick those political leaders who have put these hapless people at such great risk. I do understand that the infrastructure cannot cope with this kind of demand. But then the leaders, industrialists and people should do something to let people work with some dignity. This is almost along the same lines as the wilderbeast migration.

think this is where the Victorian Government vision for public transport in Melbourne got its inspiration from.
GC, this probably shows idiots are not confined to just India. They pervade where humans live and wage intellectual wars in the form of strategies and KPI (key performance indicators).
This is one of the mental images that I have of India!
The song Chaiyya Chaiyya (from a film) was filmed on top of a moving train. It looks very dangerous, especially since it probably took dozens of takes to get right.

Train journeys in India are actually ok. Mumbai and Calcutta suburban trains are exceptions. Mumbai has about 17 million people. Almost the population of Australia. So villages are empty and I happen to live in one.
